Morgana’s Gender Journey

Hello Everyone

I am posting this to let you all know that I will be out of the office until the 27th November. This is because I am having my gender affirmation surgery.

Many of you may remember that a few years ago I was misdiagnosed as being Non Binary and I wrote a blog post explaining my change of name and pronouns. This diagnosis never felt right for me but as we are brought up to trust our doctors, so I went with it. This ‘not right’ feeling kept growing stronger until I could no longer ignore it. I consulted another doctor at the Gender Identity Clinic and they confirmed that what I had always felt within myself (that I am in fact female) was the truth.

I changed my name to Morgan a few years ago, thinking of actresses like Morgan Fairchild, and I have always liked the name. However, I have come to realise that most people see Morgan as a male name, courtesy of Morgan Freeman. So I have taken the decision to make a small change and feminise the name beyond all doubt and I have become Morgana.

I want to take this opportunity to thank all of your for your messages of support. Contrary to what the press and other commentators would have you believe, this is a tough, long and necessary journey. Your support and well wishes along the way have meant a great deal to me and helped enormously.

As ever, please feel free to ask me anything; I am happy to answer questions as it’s the only way to deepen understanding. I will be back in a few weeks, feeling like a new woman.

Thanks again

Morgana
