My First Year at Vision ICT

Now the year is coming to an end, I thought I would take the time to reflect on my first year at Vision ICT.

I started working at Vision on the 3rd of January 2017 and wow what a year it has been! When I first started here I didn’t know a lot about computers and even less about web design, but I was eager to prove myself and learn all I could. Everyone here was so friendly and I felt welcome straight away. Whenever I had a question there was always someone who was more than happy to help me. I had soon learnt how to use Photoshop and, with a little guidance from Paul, was ready to make my first website. The system was easy to learn by June I’d made two websites all by myself! (Llangynhafal Community Council and Doolittles Caravan and Camping Site, if you were interested.)

Then came Survey Monkey and Excel, Word and Indesign. Anything I wanted to learn, I had the help and guidance that I needed. I was flying through my apprenticeship and even had time to help out our local bees at Princesshay which was an incredible experience that I hope to take up again in Spring 2018.

I also had the opportunity to go to Offgrid Festival with Exeter Pound and made my very own necklace out of a penny. I continued to use my artistic skills and created our animal paper cuttings (with the help of our graphic designer, Paul).

And on the 20th I attended Vision ICT’s first Networking Event. A brilliant evening with a lovely presentation from Daniel about his volunteering in Mumbai teaching slum children.

Overall, an amazing year in which I have made some good friends, great memories, useful skills and some excellent websites as well. I look forward to continuing my work here in the new year and developing our social media presence.
