WHO ARE YOU AND WHAT IS YOUR JOB ROLE?
My name is Paul and I am the Graphic Designer here at Vision ICT. As well as building websites for our clients, I also work on all the design jobs that come in. This could include designing brochures, logos, van graphics, exhibition graphics, presentations or stationery.
WHAT DOES A TYPICAL WORK DAY LOOK LIKE FOR YOU?
I used to cycle into the office with Jonny but now working from home the commute is a lot shorter. I start by checking emails and actioning any outstanding design jobs. I then move onto building any websites that have been allocated to me.
WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO OUTSIDE OF WORK?
I like to keep busy, and over the last few years i've been very busy renovating the house. Everything has been changed and I’ve done most of the work myself, from fitting kitchens to laying floors! If I’m not pottering around the house, I like to get out and about for long walks on Dartmoor with Jonny (the office dog), Max (Jonny’s big brother) and my wife. I like many different sports (watching not playing) so after a busy day, watching a game is ideal.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE BOOK/TV PROGRAMME/MOVIE?
I’m a big fan of Stephen King and have read a lot of his books, IT being my favourite. My taste in TV programmes is quite broad so it’s hard to pick a favourite but recently I really enjoyed a programme called Schitts Creek. It’s also difficult to pick a favourite movie but Shawshank Redemption or The Lord of the Rings trilogy have always been at the top of my list.
WHAT WOULD YOUR SUPERHERO NAME BE AND WHAT SUPERPOWER WOULD YOU HAVE?
I often have dreams that I’m flying so it would be great if I could actually do that. Teleportation would be very useful too. As for a superhero name, I know it’s already been taken but I’d be called Mr Incredible. Failing that Mr ‘Bloody Fantastic’ would suit.
WHEN THEY ASKED YOU WHAT JOB YOU WANTED TO HAVE WHEN YOU WERE A CHILD, HOW DID YOU ANSWER?
I loved horses growing up and really wanted to be a jockey in order to compete in the Grand National. I trained to become one for a few years but unfortunately it didn’t work out for me. My father has always been creative and was one of the top air brush illustrators in his day so he inspired me to get into graphic design.
CAN YOU TELL US A FUN FACT ABOUT YOURSELF?
I spent a year in Australia when I was younger and decided to drive from one side to the other with a friend. It took us almost two weeks and we drove for over 12 hours each day. Very few people have done that once, but as my friend had decided to stay on in Sidney I decided to drive back to Perth alone, so did it all over again.
