A huge thank you to everyone who came to our auction on the 17th April to help raise money to fix the leaky roof of a school in the slums of Mumbai.
The events started with an introduction from Daniel Hillier who had volunteered at the school in October of last year. For his birthday, he hoped to raise money to help fix the holes in the school roof and provide those children in Mumbai a safe learning environment.
Guests were then treated to local stories from Wyverns Tales, which were thoroughly enjoyed and created a jovial atmosphere. Drinks and food provided by The Canopy were gratefully received before the auction began.
We had wonderful auction items including vouchers for The Prospect, Bierkeller, Wisdom Caller and Responsive Photography, a week-long stay in an apartment in Spain and beautiful pieces of art donated by individuals.
We raised over £500 on the night and a further £300 on the Just Giving Page. Including money from other events, we have a raised a total of £1,250 towards the goal of £1,600 needed to replace the roof. They have now received the money and we hope their roof will soon be fixed and lessons will be able to go on as normal.
Daniel may be going back later this year to check up on the school, so keep an eye on our website for updates!
